  3. Muscatine Symphony Orchestra Presents: MasterWorks IV: "The Many Joys of Youth"

March 9, 2019, 7:30 PM @ Central Middle School Auditorium

Enjoy the artistic talents of our area’s younger generation – both performance and visual – as part of the Muscatine Symphony Orchestra’s concert on Sat., March 9. Each year, MSO Association partners with the Howe Foundation for our Young Artist Competition. The young musician who wins this highly competitive challenge gets the opportunity to perform with the symphony. The 2019 Young Artist winner, who will perform on violin at the concert, is Joel Peterson. A senior at Linn-Mar High School in Cedar Rapids, Joel started playing piano at age 3 and violin at age 6. He still plays both instruments and is also a vocalist. Joel is a four-year Iowa All-State Orchestra member and four-year Iowa All-State Chamber Orchestra member. Joel has been concertmaster and soloist while at Linn-Mar High School. He has performed with NEISTA honors orchestras, Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Honor Orchestra and Kennedy High School Honors Orchestra.
